A woman in her 30s from the UK shared the side effects she experienced after receiving Botox treatment.
According to the foreign media outlet 'The Mirror' on the 24th (local time), Catherine Tumulka (34) had been regularly receiving lip fillers since 2020 to achieve fuller lips. When Catherine Tumulka went to get her usual lip filler, she was told that there was "no filler stock available" and decided to get Botox instead. She said, "Hearing that there was no filler made me consider Botox," and added, "I decided to undergo the procedure expecting a similar lip-plumping effect as with fillers."
However, Catherine Tumulka's daily life was completely disrupted after the procedure. She confessed, "One side of my face completely collapsed like a stroke patient," and "I couldn't even go to work while waiting for my face to return to normal." Also, "It was truly a terrible appearance. I couldn't meet people either," she urged, "Make sure to think carefully and verify the qualifications of the specialist before undergoing the procedure."
Botox is a cosmetic procedure that temporarily suppresses muscle activity by injecting 'botulinum toxin.' It is mainly used to reduce wrinkles or muscles in specific areas. Despite being a simple procedure with low cost, its effects generally last for several months, leading to increased demand recently.
However, Botox treatments also have side effects that require caution. Common side effects include eyelid drooping, swelling, and inflammation. Additionally, if an excessive amount of toxin is injected into the face or jaw, symptoms such as facial and salivary gland paralysis may occur. Therefore, it is important to proceed with Botox treatment after thorough consultation with experienced medical professionals. Knowing about personal discomforts and precautions beforehand during consultation can significantly reduce risks. At this time, it is also important to check whether the clinic adheres to the principles of using genuine products and correct dosages.
