Jung Jae-wal, Vice President of Seoul Cyber University, Appointed as New CEO of Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra

Seoul City announced on the 25th that it has appointed Jeong Jae-wal (60), Vice President of Seoul Cyber University, as the CEO of the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra (Seoul Philharmonic). The term of office is three years starting from today.


Newly appointed CEO Jeong is a cultural administration expert who has served as the head of cultural and arts institutions affiliated with the central government and local governments, such as Goyang Cultural Foundation, Geumcheon Cultural Foundation, and the Arts Management Support Center. Since last year, he has been serving as the Vice President of Seoul Cyber University.

Seoul City explained that the new CEO Jeong is a suitable candidate with expertise and leadership in arts management, having actively worked in both public and private sectors, planning initiatives such as "performance seasons" and "package tickets."


CEO Jeong expressed his thoughts, saying, "Together with Music Director Yap Pan Tsubeden and the foundation members, I will do my best to strengthen the capabilities and status of the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra so that it can become a symbol of 'Global Cultural City Seoul.'"


Seung Myung-ho (68), Chairman of Hankook Ilbo, was appointed as the new Chairman of the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra.

Newly appointed Chairman Seung has served as Chairman of the National Symphony Orchestra and as a non-executive director of the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra.


The city stated, "Based on his high understanding of the classical industry, he is expected to contribute to the sustainable development of the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra."
