Joint Inspection with Dongdaemun Fire Station at 13 Apartment Complexes
Identified and Addressed Faulty Fire Extinguishers, Sprinkler Head Detachments, etc.
Model Cases Equipped with Thermal Imaging CCTV, Lower Standpipes, and Suffocation Fire Extinguishers
Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul (Mayor Ilpyeong Lee) announced on the 25th that it recently conducted a joint inspection with the fire department on 13 apartment complexes with more than 1,000 households that have electric vehicle charging facilities installed in their underground parking lots.
From September 25 to October 15, Dongdaemun-gu and the Dongdaemun Fire Station visited 13 apartment complexes over approximately three weeks to inspect the "electric vehicle charging facilities," including charging cables and distribution boxes, as well as "fire safety facilities," such as sprinklers, fire hydrants, and fire extinguishers.
As a result of the joint inspection, deficiencies were found in three complexes, including ▲ faulty fire extinguishers ▲ detached sprinkler heads ▲ unsecured indoor fire hydrant hoses, and immediate corrective actions were taken on site.
There were also exemplary cases. Apartment Complex A in Imun-dong operates a "thermal imaging CCTV" that sounds an alarm when the temperature in the charging area rises above 60 degrees Celsius, enabling prompt response. Apartment Complex B in Yongsin-dong was confirmed to be committed to safety management by equipping lower pipe nozzles and smothering fire extinguishers near the charging area and educating managers on response manuals.
Ilpyeong Lee, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, stated, "We will regularly inspect electric vehicle charging facilities and fire safety equipment to fundamentally prevent fire outbreaks."
