"Show Various Possibilities to Junior Actors"
Yoo In-chon, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, expressed condolences on the passing of actress Kim Su-mi on the 25th. Kim experienced cardiac arrest that morning and was transported to Seoul St. Mary's Hospital, where she passed away. According to the police, there were no signs of foul play. It is presumed that she died from an underlying illness. She was 75 years old.
Upon hearing the sad news, Minister Yoo said, "She was an actress who left a deeper impression than anyone else. Rather than being glamorous, she approached like family with warmth and humor, so the sorrow feels even greater." He added, "It feels more like losing a family member than a star." He continued, "I am grateful to Teacher Kim Su-mi for showing various possibilities to junior actors and deeply mourn her passing."
He planned to visit Kim's funeral at Hanyang University Hospital's funeral hall that day. The two had built a friendship while appearing together in the MBC drama 'Jeonwon Ilgi.' Recently, they also interacted through the tvN variety show 'Hoijangnimne Saramdeul.'
