Seoul Facilities Corporation (Chairman Han Guk-yeong) announced on the 25th that it has significantly improved inconveniences at three public parking lots?Jongmyo, Namsan Yejang, and Cheonho Station?to enhance convenience for transportation-vulnerable groups such as people with disabilities, the elderly, and infants.

These parking lots lacked pedestrian markings accessible by wheelchair or had insufficient directional signage. Additionally, convenience facilities such as infant holders were inadequate, causing discomfort for transportation-vulnerable users.

The corporation installed a ramp accessible to transportation-vulnerable users at the first-floor entrance of Jongmyo Parking Lot, which has an average daily vehicle usage of about 1,500 cars, and reinforced anti-slip pads on existing ramps. Safety marking painting work was carried out, and infant holders and braille signage for faucets were introduced in restrooms.

At Namsan Yejang Parking Lot, frequently used by buses carrying tourists visiting Namsan, braille guide signs were installed on the handrails of the main entrance ramp. Braille signs were also placed throughout the restrooms.

Cheonho Station Parking Lot, which sees about 1,800 vehicles daily, improved convenience for transportation-vulnerable users by placing braille signs on washbasin faucets and installing backrests for people with disabilities in various locations.

Han Guk-yeong, Chairman of Seoul Facilities Corporation, said, “We have made efforts to improve facilities at these three public parking lots frequently visited by various transportation-vulnerable groups, from young children to the elderly and people with disabilities, from their perspective,” adding, “We will continue to make various efforts for socially vulnerable groups in the future.”
