Sergeant of Seoul Seocho Police Station
An active police officer suspected of assisting in the destruction of evidence related to the habitual sexual assault of female believers by Jung Myung-seok (78), the leader of the heretical Christian Gospel Mission Church (JMS), has been suspended from duty.
On the 25th, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency announced that Kang, a sergeant affiliated with the Seocho Police Station in Seoul, who is suspected of helping to destroy evidence of Jung's sexual assault, was recently suspended from his position.
Sergeant Kang is accused of discussing with JMS church officials methods to prepare for mobile phone forensic investigations and ways to undermine the credibility of sexual assault victims' testimonies.
Previously, Police Chief Jo Ji-ho stated at the National Assembly's Public Administration and Security Committee hearing that "to some extent, it is known that there is a tangible existence of police officers within the JMS believer organization."
