The Gwoldong 3rd Public Parking Lot is a two-story, three-level parking tower that can accommodate 112 vehicles. The city invested a total of 4.4 billion KRW, completed construction last August, and after a free trial operation, began paid operation from this day.
The parking tower includes designated spaces for the disabled (4 spots) and transportation-vulnerable individuals (12 spots). Notably, it features various parking spaces categorized by vehicle type: expanded spaces (36 spots), regular spaces (54 spots), and compact car spaces (6 spots).
The city explained that during the parking lot construction process, it secured 1.5 billion KRW in national funds and 2.7 billion KRW in special adjustment grants from Gyeonggi Province, covering most of the project costs with national and provincial funds, thereby reducing the city’s budget burden.
The city plans to continue expanding public parking lots to solve downtown parking difficulties. In the second half of next year, a parking tower with 521 spaces will be constructed at Osan Station transfer parking lot to provide residents with a high-quality parking environment. Additionally, the city will actively promote projects such as shared parking lots that open school parking lots to citizens during nights and holidays, and continuously expand small-scale parking lots by utilizing leftover public land under railway tracks or around residential areas.
Lee Gwon-jae, Mayor of Osan City, said, "Solving parking issues is directly connected to citizens' lives, so we will continue to do our best to address this."
