Samcheok-si Selected for the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism's 'Visiting Popular Music Concert' Contest

Scheduled to be held at the outdoor special stage of Samcheok Isabu Dokdo Memorial Hall

Samcheok City, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province (Mayor Park Sang-su) announced on the 25th that the Samcheok Tourism and Culture Foundation (Chairman Park Sang-su) has been finally selected for the ‘2024 Duruduru Traveling Popular Music Concert’ sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

The Samcheok Tourism and Culture Foundation in Samcheok City, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province, has been selected for the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism's '2024 Duruduru Traveling Popular Music Concert' contest. This is an outdoor stage view at the Samcheok Isabu Dokdo Memorial, where the concert will be held.

The ‘2024 Duruduru Traveling Popular Music Concert’ is a concert sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to actively provide opportunities to enjoy popular music. The Korea Popular Music Performance Industry Association, a non-profit organization, directly visits regions to hold music performances of various genres, with a total budget of 1 billion KRW.

A total of 14 organizations, including the Samcheok Tourism and Culture Foundation, were selected in this competition, and the concert is scheduled to be held at the outdoor special stage of the Isabu Dokdo Memorial Hall, which is establishing itself as a new cultural tourism hub in Samcheok.

An official from the Samcheok Tourism and Culture Foundation stated, “We are actively discovering public contest projects to maximize citizens’ opportunities to enjoy culture, and we plan to meet citizens through performances. We are also planning various programs for Samcheok to leap forward as a cultural tourism hub city.”

Meanwhile, the Isabu Dokdo Memorial Hall consists of four buildings symbolically expressing the image of Dokdo rising prominently above the East Sea. Visitors attending performances can also experience the excellent aesthetics of the architecture, making it a representative tourist destination of Samcheok.
