Seoul National University Hospital, Labor-Management Tentative Agreement... Union Calls Off Strike

The labor-management negotiations at Seoul National University Hospital, which had entered a union strike, have been tentatively settled.

The Seoul National University Hospital Labor Union announced on the 24th that after conducting main and working-level negotiations for the past three months, they reached a tentative agreement with the Seoul National University Hospital side.

Accordingly, the union also withdrew the previously announced indefinite full strike scheduled to begin on the 31st.

The union stated, "It was agreed with the hospital side that the National University Hospital Association will propose to the government to prevent the reduction of public hospital beds as part of the medical reform pilot project," adding, "Following last year, this year as well, we will continuously review and propose to the government a system to reduce the financial burden of hospital expenses for pediatric patients, and agreed to exclude Physician Assistant (PA) nurses from the nursing grade staffing standards and prohibit medical acts outside their scope of work."

The union also said, "We agreed not to impose any status disadvantages or deteriorate working conditions for current employees citing management losses after the medical crisis," and added, "We will continue the struggle to strengthen medical publicness."
