The KOSPI closed lower due to foreign selling pressure. Samsung Electronics hit a 52-week low.
On the 24th, the KOSPI closed at 2,581.03, down 18.59 points (0.72%) from the previous trading day.
By investor type, foreigners and institutions sold a net 601.8 billion KRW and 54.5 billion KRW respectively. Meanwhile, individuals bought a net 621.6 billion KRW.
By sector, steel and metals surged 8.10%. The electric and gas utilities sector rose 3.16%. Conversely, the electrical and electronics, insurance sectors fell more than 2%. Other sectors such as securities, pharmaceuticals, distribution, and chemicals closed slightly lower.
Among the top market capitalization stocks, Samsung Electronics closed at 56,600 KRW, down 2,500 KRW (4.23%) from the previous trading day. Hyundai Motor plunged 5.19%. On the other hand, SK Hynix rose 1.12%. LG Energy Solution closed slightly higher. Korea Zinc hit the daily upper limit during the session, rising to 13th in market capitalization.
On this day’s KOSPI, including Korea Zinc which hit the upper limit, 257 stocks rose, while 617 stocks declined without hitting the lower limit. 63 stocks were unchanged.
The KOSDAQ closed at 734.59, down 10.60 points (1.42%) from the previous trading day.
By investor type, individuals bought a net 176.7 billion KRW. In contrast, foreigners and institutions sold a net 75.7 billion KRW and 92.3 billion KRW respectively.
By sector, medical and precision instruments, general electrical and electronics fell more than 2%. Other sectors such as metals, pharmaceuticals, textiles and apparel, other manufacturing, and construction closed down around 1%.
Among the top market capitalization stocks, Alteogen closed at 382,000 KRW, up 1,500 KRW (0.39%) from the previous trading day. Rigacembio rose 2.42%. Conversely, Classys plunged 9.41%. EcoPro BM, Samchundang Pharmaceutical, Lino Industrial, and Rainbow Robotics all closed down more than 3%.
On the KOSDAQ, Irem and Youngpoong Precision hit the daily upper limit, with 389 stocks rising. Meanwhile, 1,216 stocks declined without hitting the lower limit, and 75 stocks closed unchanged.
