On the 23rd, Paju City in Gyeonggi Province announced that it held the "20th Paju Senior Festival" event in celebration of the 28th Senior Citizens' Day (October 2nd).
The event was organized to raise social interest and respect for the elderly and to encourage those who have contributed to the development of senior welfare by recognizing their efforts.
About 200 guests, including local members of the National Assembly and the chairman of the Paju City Council, as well as senior citizens, attended the event, which featured a Samulnori congratulatory performance by the senior welfare center's own club, an award ceremony for contributors to senior welfare development, and a special performance on the theme of dignified death (well-dying).
A senior citizen who participated in the event said, "It was a time for local seniors to gather, share their stories, and communicate with each other."
A representative of the Paju Senior Welfare Center stated, "All staff will do their best to provide customized services so that the elderly can spend a happy and healthy old age."
Meanwhile, Paju City provides services such as leisure activities, lifelong education support, and case management to local seniors through the Paju Senior Welfare Center. To improve accessibility to the senior welfare center and offer more diverse services, the city is carrying out construction projects for the Unjeong Danurim Senior Welfare Center and the Munsan Senior Welfare Center.
