A story about a man traveling across China with his physically challenged mother has come to light.

According to Video News on the 19th (local time), a Chinese man named Ma Yun (31) was captured carrying his mother, who suffers from brain atrophy due to a traffic accident, while traveling, drawing public attention. Recently, he traveled to Beijing with his mother, watched the national flag raising ceremony at Tiananmen Square, and climbed the Great Wall.

Ma Yun, who lives in the Xinjiang Autonomous Region, took on the role of the head of the family after his father passed away when he was about eight years old, working various part-time jobs. His mother developed brain atrophy as a result of a traffic accident 23 years ago. She had been bedridden and receiving treatment for a long time, but thanks to Ma Yun’s devoted care, she improved enough to walk short distances. After eight years passed, her condition worsened again. Ma Yun heard from the doctor that "she might have to be bedridden again," and he resolved to create memories with his mother before it was too late.

He sold both his house and car and began traveling across China with his mother. In an interview with the media, Ma Yun said, "We always say 'next time,' but parents are aging even at this moment. Time does not wait." He added, "Filial piety should not be postponed. You must act immediately so that you have no regrets." He continued, "Although my mother’s intelligence has declined to the level of a young child, she laughs a lot during our travels," and added, "Our next destination is Xi’an."

Netizens who heard the story responded with comments such as, "I should spend time with my parents even if it’s late," "It makes me reflect on myself," "He is a true filial son. Truly admirable," and "I want to help them even a little."
