A video showing a girl walking barefoot for over an hour in the ruins of the Gaza Strip, Palestine, carrying her injured younger brother on her shoulder, has evoked deep sympathy.
On the 21st (local time), Turkey's Anadolu Agency released a video on its official X (formerly Twitter) account showing a Palestinian girl carrying her younger brother, who cannot walk due to a leg injury, on her shoulder as she walks through the streets of Gaza.
In the video, when asked "Why are you carrying your brother on your back?" the girl replied, "My brother was hit by a car." When asked, "Where are you taking him?" she said, "We are going to Al Buray Park, where medical personnel are available, for treatment."
The very tired-looking girl was asked, "Aren't you tired from carrying your brother?" She answered, "I am tired. I have been carrying him for an hour, but he cannot walk." The media reported that the girl appeared to have already traveled more than 2 kilometers. Eventually, the person filming the video gave the girl and her brother a ride in a car and safely took them to their destination.

Due to the ongoing Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip for over a year, thousands of Palestinian children have lost their families and are left abandoned by the roadside. Many children are fleeing the war and struggling to find water and food. According to local health authorities, more than 42,600 people, mainly women and children, have died so far, and 99,800 have been injured.
Israel's indiscriminate attacks on civilian facilities such as hospitals and schools in Gaza, citing the reason of "eliminating Hamas operatives," have raised international concerns over "excessive retaliation." However, despite repeated international condemnation, Israel is expanding the frontlines beyond Gaza to Lebanon, Syria, and even Iran.
