A 'trash balloon' released by North Korea burst in the air above the Yongsan Presidential Office building and fell down. The balloon contained leaflets criticizing President Yoon Suk-yeol and his wife. The Presidential Office judged that there was no danger and took measures to collect the debris.
The Presidential Security Service stated on the 24th, "In the early hours today, a North Korean trash balloon burst in the air, and scattered debris was identified around the Yongsan Office building."
The Security Service explained, "After a safety inspection, it was confirmed that the objects posed no danger or contamination, so they were collected. We are continuously monitoring the situation in cooperation with the Joint Chiefs of Staff."
This is the second time since July 24 that a North Korean 'trash balloon' has fallen near the Presidential Office building.
At that time, the Presidential Office had detected the trash balloon entering the building area through surveillance equipment in advance, waited for it to fall, and then collected it.
However, this time the trash balloon burst in the air, scattering its contents.
In particular, the fallen leaflets included criticism of President Yoon and his wife. The leaflets contained phrases such as "You may not know the price of green onions, but you should know you will be smashed by a nuclear fist," and "Queen Kim Geon-hee, who rivals Marie Antoinette, the epitome of luxury and indulgence."
