Construction Industry Vision Forum Seminar 'Finding Answers in Convergence in the Digital Age' Successfully Concluded

The Construction Industry Vision Forum announced on the 23rd that it successfully concluded the seminar titled "Finding Answers in Convergence in the Digital Age," held at the Construction Hall in Gangnam-gu, Seoul.

Kim Seon-gyu, co-chairman of the Construction Industry Vision Forum and chairman of Hoban Group, emphasized in his opening remarks, "This seminar will be an important opportunity to secure game-changing technologies for the construction industry," adding, "Let us strive to ensure that South Korea's construction industry stands tall in the global market."


The seminar was organized to benchmark the automotive and shipbuilding industries, which have achieved the most advanced digitalization, and to explore applicable measures for the construction sector. Discussions were held on game-changing technologies that will lead the future.


Park Hee-dae, associate researcher at the Korea Construction Industry Research Institute, presented on the topic "Digitalization and Automation Strategies in the Construction Sector through Benchmarking the Automotive and Shipbuilding Industries." He examined cases of utilizing digital technology, automation, and robotics to address labor shortages and proposed how the construction industry can optimize and improve production processes despite constraints such as high labor dependency and one-off projects.


Following this, Professor Kim Tae-wan of Incheon National University explained strategies for securing future game-changing technologies in the construction sector under the theme "Strategies for Securing Future Game-Changing Technologies in Construction," focusing on digitalization, automation, and the emergence of artificial intelligence (AI).


A panel discussion also took place. Lee Sang-ho, former president of the Korea Construction Industry Research Institute, chaired the session, engaging in in-depth discussions with experts from the shipbuilding, automotive, and construction sectors as well as university professors. After the discussion, participants freely exchanged opinions, further energizing the seminar.
