Support for Research Infrastructure at SML Tech
With the support of Hannam University Startup Support Group, component material technology based on superconducting magnetic levitation technology is set to be commercialized.
On the 22nd, according to Hannam University Startup Support Group, ‘SML Tech,’ founded by Dr. Kim Chan-jung of the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute, was selected for the Hannam University Startup-Centered University Preliminary Startup Support Project and received support.
Dr. Kim Chan-jung is an expert who has conducted world-class research in the field of superconducting materials for over 30 years. Through this startup, he has developed non-contact transfer device components that can reduce fine dust generation in semiconductor processes, superconducting magnets, and energy storage devices. Dr. Kim recently secured innovative technology and is currently undergoing verification procedures for commercialization with the help of the Hannam University Startup-Centered University Support Project.
With this support, SML Tech secured funds necessary for prototype development and technology verification, and received research infrastructure, laying an important foundation for the commercialization of superconducting magnetic levitation technology.
The Hannam University Startup Support Group has been leading efforts to promote researcher startups by linking with local public institutions. To revitalize researcher startups, they held a business briefing at the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute and strengthened cooperation with local research institutions, through which they established a connection with SML Tech.
Dr. Kim said, “With the support of Hannam University, we were able to take one step closer to the commercialization of innovative superconducting technology. We will continue to strive to establish superconducting materials as a core of future industries.” He added, “Based on cooperation with the Hannam University Startup Support Group, we will promote the commercialization of superconducting technology and lead innovation in the semiconductor and energy industries.”
