Dongguk University Biomedical Campus-BICO Group Business Agreement Signed

Dongguk University Biomedical Campus (BMC) announced on the 25th that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with BICO Group AB-Life Science Solutions (BICO Group) with the goal of "carrying out global academic activities in human and technical fields."

The signing ceremony held on the 22nd at the conference room on the 2nd floor of Dongguk University College of Pharmacy was attended by Kim Daeyoung, Director of BMC Administration, Sung Jeongseok, Director of External Cooperation, Professor Seo Youngkwon of the Department of Biomedical Engineering, Professor Park Byungrok of Industry-Academia Cooperation, and Team Leader Byun Jaedeok of Regional Talent Development. From BICO Group, Edmund Yap, Managing Director of Asia-Pacific region, Ko Jaesung, Head of Korea Branch, and Kim Gideok, Head of Technology, were present.


BICO Group, founded in 2016, is a multinational company in the field of bio-convergence technology and services, and is a global unicorn company with 15 subsidiaries worldwide. It also provides biomedical technologies and products to multinational pharmaceutical companies, leading universities, and life science researchers around the world.


Through this MOU, both institutions agreed to proceed with human and technical exchanges for ▲inviting speakers to global academic events ▲sharing research achievements ▲academic exchanges and sharing of the latest technical information.


This agreement is expected to boost the Gyeonggi-do Regional Innovation-Centered University Support System project. It will also serve as a cornerstone for global GAIA (Gyeonggi Academia-Industry Alliance) collaboration operation in the bio sector, one of Gyeonggi-do’s seven future growth industries, including cooperative projects linked with global universities, research institutions, and companies, joint R&D discovery, human resource exchange, information and technology exchange through global conferences, and support for domestic companies’ overseas expansion.


Kim Daeyoung, Director of Dongguk University BMC Administration, said, "Through global academic events and research achievement exchanges in the bio-technology field with the world-renowned BICO Group, we will accelerate the activation and globalization of Dongguk University BMC’s convergence research and contribute to nurturing global professional talent."


In response, Edmund Yap, Managing Director of Asia-Pacific at BICO Group, said, "BICO Group is a global unicorn company with strong technological capabilities, and we hope that human and technical exchanges with Dongguk University BMC will expand starting from this MOU."
