On the 23rd, Jeollanam-do and the heads of public institutions relocated to Naju Innovation City met to share regional issues and discuss ways to promote mutual cooperation.
The meeting was attended by about 20 people, including Kim Young-rok, Governor of Jeollanam-do, heads of relocated public institutions such as Korea Electric Power Corporation, the Mayor of Naju, and the President of Korea Energy Engineering University, where they discussed plans for mutual cooperation.
Jeollanam-do requested special attention and cooperation to ensure the smooth progress of key projects for the relocated public institutions, including the second relocation of metropolitan public institutions and attracting affiliated organizations, expanding local talent recruitment, prioritizing local product purchases, regional contribution projects (such as scholarships for nurturing local talent), and leading global energy transition projects.
Governor Kim Young-rok said, “Through the mutual cooperation meeting with the relocated public institutions, we will actively reflect the opinions of public institutions to revitalize Innovation City and firmly establish a cooperative system. We will strive to make Innovation City not only a self-sufficient city of 50,000 people but also a hub city supporting the growth of surrounding municipalities and a premium city that boldly leaps onto the global stage.”
Jeollanam-do continues to collaborate with 16 relocated public institutions, including Korea Electric Power Corporation, for regional mutual development.
Additionally, to help Innovation City grow into a premium city well-equipped with industry, culture, education, medical, and welfare facilities, Jeollanam-do plans to complete the ‘Living SOC Complex Innovation Center’ with a children’s library and childcare support facilities, and the ‘Bitgaram Complex Innovation Center’ housing exhibition and multipurpose rooms, a swimming pool, and a youth culture center by 2025, in cooperation with Gwangju City and Naju City.
