Point Mobile, a company specializing in industrial mobile computers, is expanding its future growth engines by entering the 'payment solution' business.
On the 23rd, Point Mobile announced that it is promoting business cooperation with Focus HNS in AI (artificial intelligence) and IoT (Internet of Things)-based payment and industrial solutions. Prior to this, Focus HNS became the second largest shareholder by investing in Point Mobile shares (approximately 1.11 million shares, 8.75% stake).
Point Mobile and Focus HNS plan to gradually expand cooperation in POS business, PDA business, table order, and other payment and industrial solution-related areas. Point Mobile has secured market competitiveness and networks in industrial mobile computer hardware sectors such as PDA, POS, barcode, and scanners, while Focus owns proprietary payment module technology and solutions from WeHub, which is expected to create synergy, according to the companies.
Point Mobile supplies devices used in various industries such as distribution, transportation, logistics, and retail based on barcode scanning, focusing on industrial mobile computer development. This year, it officially entered the payment market by launching Android-based payment terminals P8 and P10 mobile POS, and the PS72 POS station developed in collaboration with a major domestic corporation. It also released industrial tablets for table order solutions, projecting an expansion of market share.
Focus HNS provides various AI and IoT-based security solutions including AI cameras, multi-sensors, video storage devices (DVR, NVR), and intelligent security servers (UVMS). WeHub, the largest shareholder of Focus HNS, owns the 'PAYPLUG' based integrated online and offline payment solution as well as Korea's first consumer-driven payment service. Consumer-driven payment is a service that converts mobile devices directly into payment terminals by embedding proprietary payment modules, offering consumers security and convenience, and companies reduced fees.
Through this equity investment, the two companies plan to enhance competitiveness in the Automatic Identification and Data Capture (AIDC) solution market by combining Focus HNS's AI camera technology with Point Mobile's payment devices. In particular, combining WeHub's store management solutions and simple payment platforms with Point Mobile's Android-based POS devices is expected to provide a more powerful integrated solution.
A company representative said, "This cooperation will be an important turning point for Point Mobile to expand from barcode scan-centered industrial devices to a future-oriented total business model encompassing payment terminals and AI camera solutions," adding, "The collaboration between the two companies is expected to accelerate innovation in retail and industrial solutions and create strong synergy in the rapidly growing tech market."
They continued, "With the combined competitiveness of both companies, it has become possible to expand the business network and supply Stationary POS, mPOS, mTablet, ordering tablet, kiosks, serving robots, AICCTV, and payment solution fintech," and added, "Point Mobile and Focus HNS plan to lead the market through technological convergence and actively discover new business models."
