Visiting Low-Income Elderly Living Alone to Celebrate Birthday Table

The Sanho-dong Community Security Council in Masanhappo-gu, Changwon Special City, Gyeongnam, held an event on the 23rd to visit low-income elderly living alone in the area who have birthdays after October, preparing birthday tables and celebrating with them.

This birthday table service for low-income elderly living alone was changed from last year's welfare service, which gathered elderly with birthdays each month at the dong administrative welfare center to celebrate, to a visiting birthday celebration service.

At the event, members of the Sanho-dong Community Security Council prepared birthday foods such as seaweed soup, grilled fish, assorted jeon (Korean pancakes), and three kinds of seasoned vegetables at the Sanho-dong Administrative Welfare Center, then visited three low-income elderly households in the area to set up birthday tables and celebrate together with fruits, cake, bouquets, and gifts.

Donghee Lee, head of Sanho-dong, said, "Seeing the elderly smile broadly even at the small gesture of a birthday table makes me very happy. I hope that the elderly will always be healthy and have only happy days ahead."

The elderly who received the birthday celebration that day said, "I am truly happy to receive an unexpected birthday celebration, and I thank everyone who prepared the birthday table."
