Busan Office of Education, 7.6 to 1 Competition Rate for Public and Private Secondary Teacher Employment Exams

655 Applicants, 4,947 Registrations, Written Exam on the 23rd of Next Month

Busan Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Ha Yun-su) announced that 4,947 applicants applied for 655 recruitment positions in the '2025 Academic Year Public and Private Secondary School Teacher Candidate Selection Competitive Examination,' showing an average competition rate of 7.6 to 1.


This is a slight decrease compared to last year, which saw 4,316 applicants for 530 recruitment positions, resulting in a competition rate of 8.1 to 1.


For public secondary school teachers, 4,095 applicants applied for 486 general recruitment positions, showing a competition rate of 8.4 to 1, while for public secondary special school teachers, 77 applicants applied for 12 general recruitment positions, showing a competition rate of 6.4 to 1.


In the separate recruitment for persons with disabilities, 27 applicants applied for 42 positions, showing a competition rate of 0.6 to 1. Additionally, for private secondary school teachers commissioned by the city education office, 748 applicants applied for 115 recruitment positions, recording a competition rate of 6.5 to 1.


By subject, Japanese had the highest competition rate with 43 applicants for 2 positions, at 21.5 to 1, while Special Social Studies had the lowest with 7 applicants for 2 positions, at 3.5 to 1.


Among applicants for public school teachers (first choice), 1,831 applicants applied simultaneously for both public and private schools as their second choice, an increase of 457 from last year's 1,374.


By age group, there were 2,873 applicants in their 20s (58.1%), 1,436 in their 30s (29.0%), 576 in their 40s (11.6%), and 62 aged 50 and above (1.3%). By gender, females numbered 3,289 (66.5%), significantly more than males at 1,658 (33.5%). The oldest applicant was a 56-year-old woman.


The first phase of the appointment exam will be announced on the city education office website at 10 a.m. on the 15th of next month. Examinees must enter the exam room at the designated test site by 8:30 a.m. on the 23rd of next month, carrying their admission ticket and ID.
