Yeoncheon-gun will hold a survival competition using MILES equipment at the Typhoon Science Training Center on the 26th in cooperation with the 28th Infantry Division of the Army. Yeoncheon-gun, Gyeonggi Province, announced on the 23rd that it will hold a survival competition using MILES equipment at the Typhoon Scientific Training Ground in cooperation with the 28th Infantry Division of the Army on the 26th.
The Yeoncheon County Governor and the commander of the 28th Division have always strived for close cooperation between civilian authorities and the military. While considering regional development utilizing military resources, they decided to hold a survival game using military equipment at an actual training ground by linking the Typhoon Scientific Training Ground with a survival hobbyist community of over 500,000 enthusiasts.
The participants will consist of 102 civilians divided into 8 teams, competing in a team tournament to showcase their skills.
Through this event, Yeoncheon-gun expects not only to increase the resident population by promoting major local tourist attractions and the digital tourism resident ID but also to promote high-quality agricultural products by presenting participants with agricultural product packages including rice and red pepper paste produced in Yeoncheon. The 28th Infantry Division also receives positive responses from local residents as it promotes excellent military resources that are usually difficult to access and demonstrates cooperation with civilians and authorities.
Park Tae-won, Director of Tourism, stated, “Due to the characteristics of the border area, close cooperation with military units is important. With the active cooperation of the 28th Division, this new event will establish a good model of cooperation among civilians, authorities, and the military, and serve as an opportunity to widely promote Yeoncheon-gun.”
