Major Overseas Hub Vietnam Engages in Biodiversity Conservation Activities
HS Hyosung Advanced Materials has embarked on a mission to restore mangrove forests in Vietnam.
On the 22nd, HS Hyosung Advanced Materials announced on the 23rd that it held an event to mark the launch of the "HS Hyosung Advanced Materials Mekong Delta Mangrove Project" in Mi Long Nam village, Tra Vinh province, Vietnam, in collaboration with the local Vietnamese social enterprise "Mangrove." During the event, 500 mangrove seedlings were planted, and there are plans to plant a total of 4,000 mangrove seedlings over 2 hectares in the future.

Mangrove forests efficiently absorb carbon dioxide and play an important role as habitats for various species. Mangroves in the Mekong Delta region of Vietnam have been crucial in stabilizing coastal soil and preventing seawater from flowing into lowlands, but many mangrove forests have recently been destroyed due to indiscriminate development and environmental issues.
HS Hyosung Advanced Materials, which has Vietnam as a key overseas base, is supporting not only the mangrove forest restoration project starting in the Tra Vinh area but also research on mangrove species designated as endangered by the Vietnamese government. This project is the first activity for biodiversity conservation in Vietnam, and it is expected to have a positive impact on local coexistence through planting and management as well as education for local residents.
An official from HS Hyosung Advanced Materials stated, "Following our domestic biodiversity conservation activities, we plan to enhance our capabilities to respond to the climate crisis through the restoration of mangrove forests in the Vietnam region."
