Establishing a Comprehensive Support System for Youth and Startup Growth Throughout the Entire Startup Cycle
The Small and Medium Business Corporation announced on the 23rd that it has signed a business agreement with 13 organizations, including local governments in the southwestern Seoul area, industry, and universities, to promote youth entrepreneurship and support the growth of startup companies.
The signing ceremony held at the 100th Anniversary Hall of Chung-Ang University was attended by more than 20 officials, including Lee Byung-chul, Vice President of the Small and Medium Business Corporation, representatives from six major universities in southwestern Seoul (Gangseo University, Dongyang Mirae University, Seoul National University, Soongsil University, Chung-Ang University, Chongshin University), five local governments (Gangseo-gu Office, Gwanak-gu Office, Guro-gu Office, Geumcheon-gu Office, Dongjak-gu Office), and two support organizations (Seoul Business Agency, Korea Industrial Complex Corporation).
The main contents of the agreement include promoting youth entrepreneurship and supporting the growth of startup companies, with a commitment to actively cooperate on matters necessary for startup support. Specifically, universities will discover prospective and early-stage startups, local governments will prepare various measures for the regional settlement of startups, and support organizations will play a role in supporting the growth of startups. They plan to join forces to strengthen corporate competitiveness and promote regional economic development.
In particular, the Small and Medium Business Corporation plans to focus on discovering excellent companies, fostering region-specific industries, and supporting overseas market entry based on the infrastructure and startup support know-how of the Seoul Youth Startup Academy and the Global Startup Academy located in the southwestern Seoul area.
Lee Byung-chul, Vice President of the Small and Medium Business Corporation, said, “This business agreement will serve as a leading cooperation model not only for promoting youth entrepreneurship in the southwestern Seoul area but also for regional industrial growth,” adding, “We will spare no effort to support young entrepreneurs so that they can fully demonstrate their capabilities.”
