Kim Moon-soo "If Rested, Build Youth DB... Provide Close Support Until Employment"

Expansion of Tracking Unemployed Youth Starting Next Year

Kim Moon-soo, Minister of Employment and Labor, stated on the 23rd, "We must systematically identify young people who have taken a break, build a database (DB), and provide close support until they find employment."

On the same day, Minister Kim visited the Konkuk University University Job Plus Center in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, and said, "In a situation where there are not enough good jobs that meet the expectations of young people, companies tend to hire on an as-needed or experienced basis, leading to an increase in young people who delay or give up on finding jobs."

Minister Kim visited the University Job Plus Center to meet with job seekers and employment consultants to listen to the difficulties and concerns young people face in finding jobs. The University Job Plus Center is established in 121 universities nationwide, including Konkuk University, providing customized employment support services for enrolled students, graduates, and local youth.

Minister Kim explained, "Our goal is to identify 10,000 young people who participated in the Ministry of Employment and Labor's employment support projects but remain unemployed despite the end of post-management by the first half of next year," adding, "We will guide them to participate in regional youth specialized programs at the University Job Plus Center, the Ministry of Employment and Labor's Youth Challenge Support Project, Growth Project, and help them regain their motivation to find employment."

He continued, "Starting next year, we will promote the linkage of information on vocational high school students and employment information to actively identify and support young people who remain unemployed after graduating from high school."

The Ministry of Employment and Labor will build a DB of unemployed youth by tracking and managing those who participated in youth employment support policies over the long term. Employment status will be checked every six months, and employment support services will be provided to young people whose unemployment period is prolonged. After the first half of next year, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, the target will be expanded to include unemployed youth aged 15 to 34 who graduated from vocational high schools and have been unemployed for more than one year but less than three years.
