Seorin Company CEOs Jeong Seorin and Lee Younghak Donate 30 Million Won to Yeungnam University... "Please Use It for Dokdo Research"

Seorin Company Co., Ltd. representatives Jeong Seorin and Lee Younghak donated 30 million KRW in development funds to Yeungnam University (President Choi Oechul) on the 25th in observance of 'Dokdo Day.'

On the morning of the 22nd, Jeong Seorin and Lee Younghak of Seorin Company visited Yeungnam University and handed over 30 million KRW to President Choi Oechul, requesting that the funds be used for research activities and education related to Dokdo. The total cumulative donation amount now stands at 150 million KRW.

Starting in 2019, when representatives Jeong and Lee visited Yeungnam University to contribute 30 million KRW to support research on Dokdo's native plants and ecological environment, they have donated 30 million KRW annually through 2022, totaling 120 million KRW. They joined Yeungnam University's high-value donor club, the Cheonma Honors Club, and received the Cheonma Honors plaque in 2022.

Using the development funds donated by representatives Jeong and Lee, Yeungnam University established the Dokdo Native Plant Garden on the site next to the main university building in 2020 and completed the Dokdo Natural Ecology Greenhouse on campus in 2021. Yeungnam University is the first in the nation to create facilities on campus for cultivating and propagating seeds of Dokdo native plants. The Yeungnam University Dokdo Research Institute utilizes these facilities not only for university students but also for the general public and elementary, middle, and high school students for Dokdo education.

Seorin Company Co., Ltd., led by representatives Jeong and Lee, manufactures and distributes various products using Ulleungdo deep-sea water and has recently gained significant public attention for cosmetics upcycled from Yangyang pine trees. Beyond supporting Yeungnam University, the company has engaged in various social contribution activities, including donating cosmetics for single mothers and adolescent girls, providing scholarships for vulnerable groups, sponsoring tree-planting funds for wildfire-affected areas in Gangwon Province, and supporting typhoon-affected regions in Vietnam. In recognition of these contributions, the company was selected as a 'Sharing Excellence Company' by the Community Chest of Korea.

Representative Jeong Seorin said, “I feel great fulfillment as a donor hearing about the educational and research activities of the Dokdo Research Institute. I ask that you continue steady research and educational activities for our land, Dokdo.” Attending together, Representative Lee Younghak said, “I am pleased to share achievements such as Dokdo research and native plant studies through the connection with Yeungnam University established by Dokdo. I will continue to support Yeungnam University's development whenever possible.”

President Choi Oechul of Yeungnam University said, “The research and educational activities of the Yeungnam University Dokdo Research Institute not only inform the historical facts regarding Dokdo's territorial rights but also represent important and meaningful efforts for future generations. We are grateful for your ongoing interest and practice of sharing in these activities.” He added, “We will sincerely educate so that the precious intentions of representatives Jeong and Lee are well conveyed to the students.”
