[Featured Stock] FiberPro, No.1 Defense Partner... "Hope to Support Ukraine Cheongung-II"

FiberPro is showing strong performance. News that the government is considering providing weapons support to Ukraine appears to be influencing the stock price.

As of 2:59 PM on the 22nd, FiberPro is trading at 5,100 KRW, up 22.16% from the previous day.

The Presidential Office stated on the same day, regarding the possibility of South Korea providing weapons support to Ukraine following North Korea's deployment of troops to Russia, "We may consider providing defensive weapons while reviewing phased scenarios," adding, "If the limit seems excessive, offensive weapons could also be considered."

Since 2008, FiberPro has been the number one partner in the domestic defense industry's inertial sensor sector. It has supplied fiber optic inertial sensors and maintained and continuously expanded its cooperative relationship, securing a unique position domestically. In addition to the defense sector, it supplies fiber optic inertial sensor products to domestic research institutes and private companies.

Fiber optic inertial sensors and related products fundamentally measure the angular velocity of an object’s rotation to provide information on the object's attitude and azimuth. Ultimately, inertial navigation devices are used in vehicles, ships, aircraft, and guided weapons. Earlier this year, FiberPro signed a supply contract for inertial measurement unit materials for export with Hanwha Aerospace for the Cheongung-2 system.

It is reported that Ukraine hopes for South Korea to support its air defense system. The domestic air defense systems mainly include the 'Cheongung-I,' which intercepts fighter jets, and the 'Cheongung-II,' which can also intercept ballistic missiles. Since Cheongung-II has recently been adopted by countries such as Saudi Arabia and Iraq and is in short supply, if support for Ukraine’s air defense system is decided, it is highly likely to be the Cheongung-I. Both Cheongung-I and Cheongung-II are classified as defensive weapons.

Ukraine also requires 155mm artillery shells. However, since 155mm shells are lethal, even if support is decided, it is likely that they will be provided indirectly through countries like the United States rather than directly.
