Gwangju City, Deliberation and Resolution on 2024 Education Expense Subsidies

Gwangju City held the '2024 Education Expense Subsidy Review Committee' meeting at the City Hall Vision Hall on the 21st and reviewed and approved an education expense subsidy of 19.4 billion KRW for 2025.

Gwangju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Bang Se-hwan) announced on the 22nd that it held the ‘2024 Education Expense Subsidy Deliberation Committee’ at the City Hall Vision Hall on the 21st and reviewed and approved 19.4 billion KRW in education expense subsidies for 2025.

The education expenses will support 59 public elementary, middle, high, and special schools and 10 private kindergartens in the area with △14.8 billion KRW for free meals, education, and school uniform support to realize universal educational welfare △1.5 billion KRW for creative experience programs based on cultural, arts, and physical education and support for future schools that meet rapidly changing educational trends △3.1 billion KRW for education office cooperative projects (10 projects) such as operating elementary after-school care classrooms.

Despite difficult financial conditions, the city plans to expand support in the cultural and arts education sector and focus on nurturing creative talents through customized student career and education support by newly providing 100 million KRW each for the autonomous public high school 2.0 operation at Gwangju Jungang High School and the school-community ‘Ieum’ orchestra project.

Mayor Bang Se-hwan said, “Although the financial situation is difficult, we plan to continuously promote support in the education sector so that students, who will be the foundation of community development, can fully develop their talents and abilities,” and added, “We ask the Office of Education and schools at all levels to work together to create a high-quality educational environment.”
