Goryeong-gun Successfully Concludes the 1st Daegaya Royal Tomb National Singing Contest

The Goryeong-gun Tourism Association in Gyeongbuk successfully concluded the 1st Daegaya Royal Tomb National Singing Contest held on the 19th at the Daegaya Cultural Nuri Outdoor Performance Hall, commemorating the UNESCO World Heritage inscription of the Goryeong Jisandong Burial Mounds.

Based on the active promotion and activities of the Korean Federation of Entertainment Artists Goryeong Branch (Branch Chief Kim Gwonsu), the contest featured a preliminary round held on October 5th, where about 200 talented contestants from all over the country, from Seoul to Jeju, competed. Fourteen finalists were selected to compete in the main event, which included celebratory performances by invited singers Seo Ji-o, Kim Dana, Hwang Jinyoung, Ha Jiha, and Choi Bisong. Despite the severe weather, the event drew enthusiastic responses from the audience.


As a result of the judging, the grand prize was awarded to Baek Jongyuk (Gumi), who performed "An Dwaeyo Andwae," receiving a prize of 3 million KRW and a singer certification. Additionally, the following awards were given: Gold Prize to Jeong Samok (Changwon), Silver Prize to Shin Woo-hyuk (Incheon), Bronze Prize to Kwon Sunoh (Cheongyang), Encouragement Prize to Kim Jeonggeon (Goryeong), and Popularity Award to Jeong Hayoung (Goryeong).


Kim Yonghyun, Chairman of the Goryeong-gun Tourism Association, expressed gratitude, saying, "Thanks to all the officials who worked hard despite the bad weather, the singing contest was successfully completed." He added, "We will continue to strive not only for the singing contest but also to offer all visitors memorable and valuable experiences through the brilliant history and cultural heritage of Daegaya in Goryeong."


Although the 1st Daegaya Royal Tomb National Singing Contest has ended, the Goryeong-gun Tourism Association plans to hold an autumn picnic at the Daegaya Living Village from October 26 to 27, allowing visitors to fully enjoy the remaining autumn season.
