"Sorry for not consulting the tenants in advance"
The Korean Medical Association and the Korean Association of Medical Colleges and Medical Schools (KAMC·Medical Schools Association) have decided to participate in the ruling and opposition parties' medical policy council.
According to the medical community on the 22nd, Lee Jin-woo, president of the Korean Medical Association, sent a message to the association's executives on the same day stating that this decision was made to resolve the medical policy crisis.
In his message, President Lee said, "Until now, the Medical Association has emphasized a unified voice centered on the Korean Medical Association and has supported it, but there has been no progress. Even during a war, dialogue is necessary. After in-depth discussions with former presidents and deliberations at the steering committee, it was decided to participate in the ruling and opposition parties' medical policy council together with KAMC."
He added, "I apologize for not informing the directors in advance and for not consulting each one individually. I hope you understand and support this difficult decision to resolve the medical policy crisis."
He further explained, "I want to reiterate that this decision was made after hundreds, if not thousands, of considerations, fully aware that it may lead to various criticisms or make the Medical Association's position difficult. I sincerely hope that this decision will become a seed to help resolve the medical policy crisis."
