Choo Kyung-ho "A Common Occurrence"
"Party and Government Must Unite and Show Unity"
President Yoon Suk-yeol met separately with Floor Leader Chu Kyung-ho after finishing a meeting with Han Dong-hoon, the leader of the People Power Party.
On the 22nd, Floor Leader Chu told reporters at the National Assembly, "I stopped by briefly because I received a message from (President Yoon). I understand the president arranged a casual meeting," adding, "The dinner was held the previous day with party lawmakers in Yeouido. After that, I received a call and went to the venue (Yongsan), which is a common occurrence." Earlier reports stated that Floor Leader Chu attended a dinner with President Yoon following the meeting between Yoon and Han. However, it is known that Floor Leader Chu headed to Yongsan after having dinner with senior members of the People Power Party.
When asked if there was any discussion about a meeting between President Yoon and Leader Han during the gathering, Floor Leader Chu responded, "I cannot disclose such details. I ask for your understanding."
Floor Leader Chu has previously shown differing views from Leader Han regarding issues related to President Yoon and the First Lady. On the 17th, when the prosecution decided not to indict Kim Geon-hee, who is suspected of stock manipulation in Deutsche Motors, Leader Han said, "We need to see if the public will accept this," whereas Floor Leader Chu said, "I believe the prosecution made efforts to announce the decision fairly."
Regarding his impressions of the meeting between the two the previous day, Floor Leader Chu said, "I only received a briefing from Secretary General Park Jeong-ha. I do not have enough information about the details or the atmosphere to comment." He added, "I think the party and government should consult more closely, unite, and show a united front. I intend to do my best in my position." When asked if the meeting yielded no results, he dismissed the question, saying, "That is for the public to judge."
