Dongjak-gu, Seoul (Mayor Park Il-ha) is recruiting the "2nd Dongjak-gu Youth Mayor" to realize a youthful district administration that incorporates the diverse perceptions and needs of young people. The "Dongjak-gu Youth Mayor" operates as an honorary position within the same organizational structure as the district office to discover policies from the perspective of youth and to expand communication and participation.
The district plans to recruit and appoint 32 youths aged 19 to 39 who reside or are active in Dongjak-gu as Youth Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Directors, and Committee Members. For this 2nd term, recommendations from all departments, neighborhoods, and institutions will also be accepted to select youths with expertise and representativeness in each field.
The areas of activity include ▲Safety and Environment ▲Planning and Finance ▲Administration and Autonomy ▲Urban Transportation ▲Welfare ▲Future Education ▲Living Economy ▲Health, totaling eight fields, with a one-year term from the date of appointment. The appointed youths will hold one meeting each month for subcommittee meetings, steering committee meetings, and policy meetings. Through these meetings, they will share activities and interests by subcommittee, discuss major district projects, and propose new policies reflecting residents' opinions. Additionally, they will be matched one-on-one with youth public officials from the district office to receive policy information, exchange opinions, and receive feedback on proposed policies.
The district appoints all Youth Mayors as honorary public relations officers to help participants serve as a bridge between the district and youth and act as messengers for district administration promotion. To this end, platforms such as the "Youth TokTok KakaoTalk Room" and the "Youth Mayor Homepage" will be launched. Participants will deliver useful policy information to youths through these promotional channels and promote the representative projects and activities of the 2nd term.
Previously, the 1st Youth Mayor, who was active for one year starting in April last year, proposed 10 policies including ▲Dongjak-gu style free labor and tax consultation ▲Environment Day commemorative events ▲Production of recycling separation promotional materials, which have been implemented this year as actual projects with a total budget of 140 million KRW.
