Generational Empathy Sharing+ is a social contribution project newly launched this year by LH to respond to the population decline and risk of regional extinction in non-metropolitan areas and to revitalize these regions. Local governments and Habitat for Humanity Korea are collaborating on this project. Following a recruitment announcement, Pohang City and Yeonggwang County were finally selected as project sites last month.
Through this project, idle spaces within the region will be upcycled, creating integrated cultural spaces where all generations?from children and adolescents to the elderly?can gather and enjoy, as well as regional childcare support hubs.
According to the agreement, Pohang City will provide the project space and partially cover operating and project expenses amounting to approximately 100 million KRW. Habitat for Humanity Korea will be responsible for creating the project space, while LH will oversee the program and provide financial support of 1 billion KRW.
Jo Kyung-sook, Head of LH's Management Headquarters, stated, "Population decline and regional collapse are not only local issues but also urgent challenges from the perspective of national balanced development. We will continue to prepare and promote various social contribution projects that can bring vitality to non-metropolitan regions."
