Joint Drill for Large-Scale Fire at Multi-Density Facility (Hospital) on 24th
Over 300 Participants from 9 Related Agencies and 3 Private Organizations Conduct Joint Exercise to Enhance Real-World Disaster Response Skills and Systems
Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Gyeong-gi) will conduct the ‘2024 Disaster Response Safe Korea Drill’ on the 24th to prepare for large-scale disasters.
The Safe Korea Drill is an unannounced response exercise simulating crisis situations, conducted nationwide every year to enhance practical response capabilities and system reinforcement for disaster situations.
This drill focuses on a complex disaster scenario where an electric vehicle crashes into Seoul Medical Center, a densely populated facility, causing a fire to spread. The goal is to minimize casualties and property damage and strengthen response systems across various sectors.
The drill will be conducted as an integrated joint exercise involving nine related organizations including Jungnang-gu Office, Jungnang Fire Station, Jungnang Police Station, Seoul Medical Center, Army Unit 3298, Korea Electric Power Corporation Dongdaemun Jungnang Branch, and three civilian groups such as the Jungnang-gu Autonomous Disaster Prevention Group, Safety Security Officers, and Volunteer Firefighters, with public and private sectors working together.
To enhance the drill’s completeness, the district is holding pre-planning meetings with 13 working teams and related organizations, and is fully committed to establishing a systematic response plan through two rounds of consulting with external experts.
Additionally, to ensure rapid situation dissemination, the drill will actively utilize the disaster safety communication network (PS-LTE) to establish an effective joint response system in real situations.
Ryu Gyeong-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, stated, “We are focusing our capabilities on prevention and management to thoroughly prepare for sudden disaster situations,” and added, “Building on this drill, all related organizations will communicate and cooperate to protect the precious lives and property of our residents and create a safer Jungnang.”
