Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province plans to proactively secure industrial land in preparation for the increasing demand from semiconductor materials, parts, and equipment (SoBuJang) companies.

On the 22nd, Yongin City announced that it held a meeting on the 18th at the city hall convention hall to discuss the expansion of industrial land supply necessary for attracting semiconductor SoBuJang companies and creating a related ecosystem.

At the meeting attended by about 60 experts from related fields such as the city’s civil engineering design association, architectural society, and administrative society, the city explained relevant laws regarding industrial complexes and industrial zones for securing factory land and provided information on the city’s location and current supply volume.

At this meeting, the city explained its policy direction to proactively secure land in anticipation of increased industrial land demand from related SoBuJang companies due to the development of the 'Yongin Semiconductor Cluster General Industrial Complex' being established in Wonsam-myeon, Cheoin-gu, and the 'Advanced System Semiconductor National Industrial Complex' in Idong and Namsa-eup. Along with this, the city helped stakeholders understand by analyzing the procedures, advantages, and disadvantages of promoting projects inside and outside industrial complexes.

Experts agreed on the necessity of expanding industrial land supply but suggested that institutional improvements tailored to corporate convenience and city support are needed. They also stated that easing the operation standards for planned urbanization land and supporting the installation of infrastructure in industrial complexes are necessary.

The city plans to collect expert opinions by the end of the year and, based on the submitted feedback, improve the system for expanding industrial land supply and promote private proposal contests for industrial land supply next year.

A city official said, "Since securing the volume needed for establishing industrial complexes or factories usually requires significant effort and time, we provided detailed guidance on the relevant laws and procedures so that related companies can prepare in advance," adding, "We will prepare improvement measures based on the opinions gathered at the meeting."
