Mayor Kim Dong-geun Also Participates... Leading Communication to Improve Awareness of People with Disabilities
Kim Dong-geun, Mayor of Uijeongbu, is giving a greeting speech at the '2024 Eoullim Walking Competition' held at Nakyangmulsarang Park on the 19th. Uijeongbu City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Dong-geun) announced on the 21st that the ‘2024 Eoullim Walking Festival’ held by the Uijeongbu Disabled Comprehensive Welfare Center at Nakyang Mulsarang Park on the 19th was successfully held with about 700 participants including both disabled and non-disabled people.
This event was organized with the theme of ‘Uijeongbu, a city good for walking,’ aiming to improve awareness of people with disabilities by having disabled and non-disabled people walk together and to enjoy healthy leisure and cultural activities.
Various side events and cultural and artistic performances by people with disabilities were also held, creating a meaningful time for everyone to come together.
Mayor Kim Dong-geun also participated in the event, walking together and spending time communicating with people with disabilities.
In particular, Mayor Kim Dong-geun, along with participating in the event, carried out the ‘Citizen Daily Care Life Field Project,’ pushing wheelchairs for disabled people with mobility difficulties and listening to their difficulties.
The Care Life Field Project is a policy that allows the mayor to directly identify problems arising in the lives of marginalized groups through field-centered communication and to actively prepare improvement measures.
On that day, Mayor Kim Dong-geun empathized with the difficulties of people with disabilities and sought solutions to everyday problems that they can feel.
Mayor Kim Dong-geun said, “Uijeongbu City is striving to break down the boundaries between disabled and non-disabled within the local community and to form a better social consensus. We will continue to create various communication platforms where disabled and non-disabled people can come together and do our best to make the city a better place for everyone to live.”
