Yangju-si Hoecheon 1-dong Deokjeong Happiness Village Management Office Holds 'Carrot-Selling Stable' Event

Yangju-si Hoecheon 1-dong Deokjeong Happiness Village Management Office Holds 'Carrot-Selling Stable' Event Hoicheon 1-dong, Yangju City, held the 'Carrot Selling Stable' event at Deokjeong Happy Village Management Office on the 19th.

On the 19th, Hoecheon 1-dong, Yangju-si, Gyeonggi Province (Dongjang Bae Yongsuk) announced on the 21st that the 'Carrot Selling Stable' event was held at the Deokjeong Commercial Hub Community Center located on Deokjeong Starlight Street, hosted by the Deokjeong Happiness Village Management Office (Jojang Yunanjae).

Following last year, this event was promoted again this year in connection with the '2024 Deokjeong Starlight Village Festival,' encouraging greater participation and response from citizens.

At the event, a marketplace was opened where residents exchanged unused household items for other goods or for recycled laundry soap made from used cooking oil.

Additionally, leftover items after exchanges were donated to local welfare organizations to raise residents' interest and to practice direct and indirect resource circulation activities in daily life, further contributing to improving awareness of the local community culture.

Jojang Yunanjae said, “We considered what projects are most needed in the community. As society becomes increasingly individualized and carbon neutrality emerges as a social issue, we thought it was timely to revisit the spirit of the 1990s Anabada movement and thus held this event. Moving forward, we will do our best to prepare not only barter exchanges but also various experiential events so that families, couples, men and women, young and old alike can spend time together, making this a representative local event.”

Hoecheon 1-dong Chief Bae Yongsuk stated, “I hope this event becomes a valuable opportunity to recognize the value of sharing and the importance of the environment in daily life. Since these are problems that cannot be solved alone, we will strengthen cooperation with related social organizations and institutions, and above all, strive to hold such occasions frequently to encourage the participation of citizens, which is the most important.”
