Transformed into a Nature-Friendly Space Featuring Bawichwi, Hyunmuan, and Moss
The Agricultural Ecology Center in Pyeongtaek-si, Gyeonggi-do announced on the 21st that it has fully remodeled the existing 'Butterfly and Insect Ecology Learning Center' and reopened it as 'Bawibawiwon (園)'.
The Ecology Center carried out the remodeling to improve the utilization efficiency of the existing Butterfly and Insect Ecology Learning Center and to create a more nature-friendly environment. Through the remodeling, the reopened Bawibawiwon has been transformed into a nature-friendly landscape by actively utilizing natural materials such as saxifrage, basalt, and moss.

The Ecology Center explained that the first 'Bawi' (rock) in Bawibawiwon refers to saxifrage, and the second 'Bawi' refers to actual rocks. They created optimal conditions for various shade plants to grow, allowing visitors to observe moss as a carbon capture source and experience the beauty of nature up close.
A representative of the Pyeongtaek Agricultural Ecology Center said, "We plan to continuously operate various programs where visitors can directly experience and learn about nature."
Meanwhile, the Agricultural Ecology Center, which opened in 2018 at 63-1 Suksong-ri, Oseong-myeon, Pyeongtaek-si, covers an area of 114,654㎡ and is equipped with various agricultural and rural facilities, offering a variety of experiential programs.
