Three Cases of Subordinate Public Institutions Also Selected for the First Time
Hwaseong City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 21st that it has selected a total of eight outstanding cases through the '2024 Second Half Active Administration Best Practices' competition.
For the first time in this competition, the city divided the participants into two groups: ▲Hwaseong City (Group 1) and ▲Public Institutions (Group 2) to select the best cases. Through the competition, five cases from the city and three cases from public institutions were selected as outstanding examples.

The grand prize winners in this competition were the Regional Economy Division's case of promoting the innovation project at Gungpyeong Port Haeoreum Fish Market, which secured 10 billion KRW in provincial funds through a Gyeonggi Province contest, and the Environmental Foundation's case of expanding reusable container support projects, discovering eco-friendly stores, and conducting citizen education to practice carbon neutrality.
The excellence awards were given to the cases of ▲Digital Road System construction using real-time GPS-based artificial intelligence (AI) analysis technology (Traffic Policy Division), ▲Efficiency improvement in underground road and tunnel maintenance and establishment of a remote monitoring system (Road Management Division), and ▲Introduction of AI safety driving solutions for Hwaseong Hope Bus (Hwaseong Urban Corporation).
The encouragement awards were given to the cases of ▲Establishment of a special account bankbook for public wastewater treatment facilities and implementation of automatic transfers (Water Quality Management Division), ▲Operation of public-type pet hospitals and introduction of public veterinary fees (Animal Protection Division), and ▲Installation of fire interlocking devices between Dongtan Mokdong Connection Center and Dongtan Mokdong Elementary School (Talent Development Foundation).
The city plans to post the selected outstanding cases on the city hall website's 'Active Administration Hall of Fame' and also produce and distribute promotional videos and casebooks.
Jung Myung-geun, Mayor of Hwaseong City, said, "In the rapidly changing modern society, the role of public officials who actively and creatively solve problems by breaking away from existing practices is crucial," and urged, "I ask all public officials of Hwaseong City and employees of public institutions to do their best to practice active administration."
