Participation of 8 Institutions Including City, City Council, Education Support Office, and Yangsan Police Station
On the 21st, Yangsan City in Gyeongnam signed a mutual agreement at Yangsan City Hall to create a 'Yangsan without disposable products,' with the participation of eight organizations including Yangsan City, Yangsan City Council, Korea Environment Corporation Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam Environmental Headquarters, Gyeongnam Yangsan Office of Education, Yangsan Police Station, Yangsan Fire Station, Yangsan City Facilities Management Corporation, and Yangsan City Welfare Foundation.
This agreement was prepared to activate the circular economy and ESG management of public institutions, and to foster an atmosphere for reducing the use of disposable products and expanding the use of reusable containers in Yangsan City.
Yangsan City and the City Council will devise administrative and financial support measures to ensure the early establishment of reducing disposable product use and promoting reusable container use, continuously promote public awareness campaigns for citizens, and the Korea Environment Corporation Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam Environmental Headquarters will actively provide expertise in reducing disposable product use and resource circulation-related fields, support policy development, and conduct promotions.
In addition, the agreement institutions will prioritize efforts to reduce disposable product use and promote reusable container use within their organizations.
Yangsan City is making various efforts such as distributing 16 automatic tumbler washing machines including to the Gyeongnam Yangsan Office of Education, supplying reusable cups within government buildings, and promoting a cafe reusable cup circulation project. Starting with promoting a disposable cup-free government building, the city plans to create an atmosphere to expand the use of reusable containers at festivals and events within the jurisdiction.
Mayor Na Dong-yeon said, “I hope the culture of using reusable containers instead of disposable products spreads through this agreement,” and added, “Let public institutions take the lead so that citizens can naturally participate.”
