Making a Bridge with Brushwood and Experiencing Carrying a Sangyeo at the Rest Area in Panun 2-ri, Jucheon-myeon, Yeongwol-gun
Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province Yeongwol-gun (Governor Choi Myung-seo) announced that the Panun Seopdari Cultural Festival, a representative village festival of Jucheon-myeon, Yeongwol-gun, will be held on the 26th (Saturday) at the Panun Rest Area in Panun 2-ri, Jucheon-myeon.

In Panun-ri village, a Seopdari bridge is installed in the Pyeongchang River in front of the village around late October every year to inherit and develop the beautiful tradition of Seopdari, which is recreated in the traditional way.
Seopdari is a temporary bridge that can be seen from late autumn to late spring of the following year in the Panun-ri area of Jucheon-myeon, Yeongwol-gun, Gangwon-do. It is made by weaving together seop trees (broadleaf trees, footamu, pine trees, etc.).
The 5th Panun Seopdari Cultural Festival features various attractions and cultural performances such as crossing the Seopdari bier, crossing the flower palanquin, crossing the Nongak, Nongak performances, trot music, and Janggu byeongchang (drum and vocal duet).
Kim Jang-seon, representative of the Panun Seopdari Cooperative, said, “The Panun Seopdari Cultural Festival is an event that inherits unique history and culture on the beautiful Pyeongchang River and promotes communication and harmony between residents and visitors.” He added, “Through the construction and experience of the Seopdari bridge, it is expected to be an opportunity to reflect on the value of nature and tradition and to promote the charm of Panun village.”
