The Gyeonggi-do Women and Family Foundation will hold a policy seminar on the 22nd based on the results of the "Gyeonggi-do Migrant Background Children and Youth Survey."
At the seminar, following the opening remarks by CEO Kim Hye-sun, Kim Young-hye, head of policy research at the Gyeonggi-do Women and Family Foundation and the lead researcher, will present on the topic "Characteristics of Multicultural Households, Economic Activities, and Social Life."
The discussion will include experts from academia and related organizations, provincial assembly members, and public officials.
Kim Hye-sun, CEO of the Gyeonggi-do Women and Family Foundation, stated, "We hope that the results of the 'Gyeonggi-do Migrant Background Children and Youth Survey' will be used as practical data for establishing future policies for migrant background children and youth in the province."
Earlier, the Gyeonggi-do Women and Family Foundation conducted a survey in June this year targeting 600 children from multicultural and foreign families in the province. The results showed that 65% of respondents wished to continue living in Korea in the future.
The biggest concern was academic performance, including grades (40%). In work-related questions, 38% responded that "work is needed," while the current employment rate (part-time jobs) was 11% overall.
Preferred vocational training fields were food and cooking (baking and coffee) at 29.6%, followed by artificial intelligence (AI) and information and communication technology at 20.1%.
