Hamas Appearance Before Last Year's Israeli Airstrikes Revealed
Israeli Military: "Shinwar's Wife Escaped Carrying a Birkin Bag"
"Shows Love for Money"... Worth About 40 Million Won

Yahya Sinwar, the leader of the Palestinian armed faction Hamas, was reported to have died following an Israeli military airstrike on the 16th (local time). Amid this, claims have emerged that his wife was carrying a luxury handbag worth over 40 million won before his death. On the 19th, the Jerusalem Post reported, "According to Avichay Adraee, the Arabic spokesperson for the Israeli military, Sinwar's wife was carrying a $32,000 (approximately 43.82 million won) Birkin bag while escaping through a tunnel the day before Hamas's surprise attack on Israel on October 7 last year."

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) released surveillance footage taken between 10:44 PM on October 6 and 1:32 AM on October 7, just before Hamas's surprise attack on Israel last year. The 3-minute and 9-second video shows Sinwar and what is presumed to be his family?one woman and two children?carrying bottled water, food, bedding, and a TV inside the tunnel. Spokesperson Adraee stated, "We secured this footage from the Gaza Strip a few months ago," and pointed out, "Even on the night before the brutal massacre, Sinwar was busy ensuring the survival of himself and his family."

Among this, there are claims that the bag Sinwar's wife was carrying is a Birkin bag from the luxury brand Herm?s. The Birkin bag is a high-end handbag named after Jane Birkin, a famous British singer and actress, and is known for requiring a long wait on a waiting list before purchase. Regarding this, spokesperson Adraee mocked, "The residents of Gaza do not have money to buy food, but we have seen many instances where Sinwar and his wife show a special love for money."

Earlier, footage showing Sinwar resisting until the end, including throwing sticks at drones before his death, has led to him being hailed as a 'martyr' and 'hero' in the Arab world. In response, the Israeli military has released tunnel escape videos and criticized his true nature, with the recent emphasis on Sinwar's wife's luxury handbag seen as an extension of this. The Jerusalem Post reported, "Sinwar is estimated to have a net worth of $3 billion (approximately 4.1085 trillion won), and a considerable amount of cash was found on his body."
