Negative Rating Rises by 1.0 Percentage Point to 72.3%

President Yoon Suk-yeol's approval rating for his administration has hit a new low since his inauguration. Notably, negative evaluations surged significantly, especially in the Yeongnam region, which had previously supported his approval ratings.

On the 21st, Realmeter, a polling agency, released the results of a public opinion survey (commissioned by Energy Economy Newspaper, conducted from the 14th to the 18th nationwide among 2,510 people aged 18 and older, using 97% mobile and 3% landline automated response methods). President Yoon's approval rating dropped by 1.7 percentage points from the previous week's regular survey, recording 24.1%. The approval rating fell for two consecutive weeks, setting a new post-inauguration low. Last week's approval rating was also tied for the lowest since his inauguration.

Negative evaluations of his administration's performance rose by 1.0 percentage point from the previous week to 72.3%.

A striking point is the sharp change in approval ratings in the Yeongnam region. In Daegu and Gyeongbuk (TK), the approval rating dropped by 8.1 percentage points (from 35.2% to 27.1%), and in Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam (PK), it fell by 7.1 percentage points (from 33.1% to 26.0%). Among people in their 20s, the approval rating also decreased by 6.3 percentage points (from 27.4% to 21.1%).

In the party support survey (commissioned by Energy Economy Newspaper, conducted from the 17th to the 18th nationwide among 1,003 people aged 18 and older, using 97% mobile and 3% landline automated response methods), the Democratic Party's support rose by 0.3 percentage points to 44.2%, and the People Power Party's support increased by 0.5 percentage points to 31.3%. The Innovation Party led by Cho Kuk fell by 1.9 percentage points to 7.4%, while the Reform New Party rose by 0.8 percentage points to 4.6%.
