Dobong-gu CCTV Integrated Control Center's Efforts Lead to Miraculous Reunion of 80-Year-Old Dementia Patient with Family

Control Center Demonstrates 'Movement Path Prediction' Capability...Missing Person Rescued After Persistent CCTV Tracking

Dobong-gu (District Mayor Oh Eon-seok) successfully rescued an elderly dementia patient in his 80s who went missing in Gangbuk-gu, Seoul, thanks to the prompt response of the CCTV (Closed-Circuit Television) Integrated Control Center.

On the evening of October 8th, around 7 PM, Mr. A, an elderly dementia patient in his 80s, went missing in Gangbuk-gu, Seoul. The Gangbuk Police immediately disseminated the situation to neighboring autonomous districts via disaster safety messages.

Upon receiving this information, the Dobong-gu CCTV control operator considered the possibility that Mr. A had moved into Dobong-gu, thoroughly checked the local CCTV footage, and around 2:40 AM on October 9th, spotted Mr. A near Ui Stream in Dobong-gu.

Subsequently, the Dobong-gu Control Center notified the Gangbuk Police Missing Persons Investigation Team and closely shared the police and movement route information. Just 15 minutes after the initial sighting, at 2:55 AM, they were able to rescue the missing person who was attempting to climb a hill near Duksung Women’s University.

Had Mr. A entered the hill at that time, there was a risk of safety accidents due to hypothermia overnight. The Dobong-gu Control Center operator’s prediction of the movement route, thorough tracking, and cooperation with the police prevented a tragic outcome.

Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, said, “We are relieved that the missing elderly Mr. A was safely returned to his family. Going forward, the district will strengthen the functions of the Integrated Control Center to find missing persons within the golden time and further solidify the cooperative system with related organizations such as the police.”

The Dobong-gu CCTV Integrated Control Center is dedicated to resident safety through 24-hour real-time monitoring, including finding missing persons, crime prevention, rapid arrest of offenders, and preventing accidents involving intoxicated individuals. As of October, it has already conducted 31,888 monitoring activities this year and provided 4,250 video materials to investigative agencies such as the police.

Furthermore, by the end of this year, the center plans to introduce an ‘Artificial Intelligence (AI) CCTV High-Speed Search System’ and utilize AI analysis technology to track and analyze the movement routes of missing persons and others.
