Mapo-gu (Mayor Park Gang-su) held the '31st Mapo Residents' Day' event on the afternoon of October 20 at the Peace Plaza in World Cup Park, the last day of the '17th Mapo Naru Salted Shrimp Festival.'
To celebrate the '31st Mapo Residents' Day,' about 2,000 people attended the event, including Mayor Park Gang-su of Mapo-gu, members of the National Assembly, guests, and delegations from Mapo-gu’s sister cities, Jeollabuk-do Gochang-gun and Busan Nam-gu.
At the ceremony, a total of 15 residents received the Mapo Residents' Award. The award categories were Culture Award (Kim Jong-cheol, Oh Mi-ja), Sports Award (Kim Bok-yeon, Yoo Bo-hyun), Brave Resident Award (Kim Yoo-dong), Honorable Parent Award (Shin Sung-nyeo, Jeong Myeong-ja, Ji Sook-ha), Filial Piety and Good Deeds Award (Kim Soo-young), Volunteer Award (Lee Hak-rae, Jeon Hyun-kyung, Jeong Bong-soon), Regional Development Award (Wondang Meat), and Regional Development Award (No Myung-jae, Mapo Youth Culture Center).
The awards were presented directly by Mayor Park Gang-su of Mapo-gu, followed by a performance by the Mapo-gu Choir in honor of the proud awardees who have brought distinction to Mapo-gu.
On this day, Mayor Park Gang-su of Mapo-gu stated in his commemorative speech, “From the world-famous Red Road street to the integrated welfare service for seniors called Hyo-do Bapsang, the learning space Space for children’s future, the Umpparang Camp that strengthens family bonds, and the pet-friendly camping site securing first place in pet zones, all of this was possible because of the 370,000 residents of Mapo-gu. Mapo-gu will continue to provide life-centered administration without change, prioritizing our precious residents above all else.”
