On the 19th, Dong-gu Cultural Platform's 'Together Parenting Awareness Improvement Project'
Linked with '2024 Hanbok Culture Week', a Rich Outdoor Stage Planned
On the 19th, Busan City will hold an awards ceremony and fashion show for the ‘Cherished Our Child’s Clothes Making Contest’ as part of the ‘Together Parenting Awareness Improvement Project’ at the outdoor lawn plaza of Dong-gu Culture Platform.
The city held the contest from July 9 to August 23 to spread positive perceptions of childbirth and parenting within families and society by providing various experiences for parents and children together, and to create a birth-friendly environment.
Through this event, it is expected that the winners will have a precious experience of wearing the clothes they made themselves and standing on stage with their families.
A total of 41 works were submitted for the traditional costume (Hanbok) category under the theme ‘The outfit I want to dress my child in and the family story I want to remember together,’ and after the first and second rounds of judging, the final 10 teams will take the stage.
The sub-theme is ‘Various stories of families raising children living in Busan.’
The 10 teams selected through the first round of judging implemented and produced 10 outfits they wanted to dress their children in through expert consultation, and on the 13th, the second round of judging and rehearsal for the actual realized outfits were conducted.
On the awards ceremony stage, participants will showcase the ‘Cherished Our Child’s Clothes’ they made together with experts, and the final winner rankings will be selected in the third round based on on-site response.
Children of various ages from 1 to 8, including a baby turning one in December and three sisters, will appear on stage wearing outfits (Hanbok) with their families.
The 10 winners will receive a total prize of 3.5 million KRW, including 1 million KRW for the grand prize. In addition, the Busan Mayor’s Award will be given to one grand prize winner and two excellence award winners.
The city stated that each work was filled with parents’ love and devotion toward their children, making the judging process not easy.
In particular, this awards ceremony is prepared as a rich stage in connection with the ‘2024 Hanbok Culture Week’ and is expected to attract many citizens’ participation and interest as it will be held outdoors.
The city mascot ‘Boogie’ and children’s dance time, as well as congratulatory performances, will also take place.
As part of the ‘Together Parenting Awareness Improvement Project,’ the city is producing emotional content that citizens can participate in and empathize with.
In 2022, a lullaby contest for fathers led to the release of a music track, and in 2023, a fairy tale travel with fathers resulted in the release of an audiobook.
This ‘Cherished Our Child’s Clothes Making Contest’ is the third family story, and a video conveying parents’ love and wishes through the one and only outfit they want to make for their child will be produced.
Promotional videos of the production process (making-of) related to the event will be distributed and utilized as promotional materials by public related organizations for ‘Together Parenting Awareness Improvement.’
Woo Mi-ok, Director of the Women and Family Bureau of the city, said, “Our city is carefully developing related policies with the heart of ‘All of Busan cherishes like you all day long’ to become ‘Happy Busan with Families, Shining Busan with Children.’ We will continue to prepare various programs that citizens can empathize with and participate in.”
