Goyang City Holds 5th Regular Jikso Civil Complaint Meeting... Strengthening Communication with Citizens Lee Dong-hwan, Mayor of Goyang Special City, is discussing with citizens about the Jikso Civil Complaints in Gajwa-dong.

Goyang Special City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Dong-hwan) announced on the 18th that it held the 5th regular Jikso Civil Complaint Meeting on the 17th, where officials met with citizens to directly listen to their complaints and seek solutions.

The main agenda items of this meeting were the construction of a new senior center in Gajwa-dong, installation of bus shelters, and securing one lane above the Baekma Underpass near Baekma Complex 5 in Madu-dong.

The Gajwa 3rd Senior Center currently uses a privately leased single-family house as a temporary senior center, but it is cramped and inconvenient. Since 2021, requests have been made to the city for the construction of a senior center, but difficulties have arisen due to site issues.

Also, the bus stop in front of the Gajwa 9th Village Hall currently only has a bus stop sign installed, causing inconvenience for village bus users, leading to demands for the installation of bus shelters and a bus information system.

The second agenda item was the plan to secure one lane above the Baekma Underpass as part of the Pungdong 2 District urban development project. Initially, the plan was to reduce the buffer green space adjacent to Baekma Complex 5 to secure one lane, but about 1,500 residents filed complaints opposing the destruction of the buffer green space.

In response, a revised plan to utilize the central flower bed within the road area was considered, but this also faced opposition from residents, making the resolution difficult.

At this meeting, related departments jointly attended to directly hear residents' inconveniences regarding the complaints, share the contents reviewed so far with the residents, and broaden mutual understanding.

The city plans to thoroughly and diversely review solutions to the complaints and actively seek resolutions through continuous consultation with residents.

Mayor Lee Dong-hwan of Goyang Special City said, “Despite difficult financial conditions, the city is striving to find the best solutions for citizens. We will listen closely to the diverse voices of citizens, understand the issues, and find the best solutions to lead to policy improvements.”
