Expectations for Supporting Transparent and Fair Public Deliberation Promotion
Paju City appointed the "Paju City Hall Public Deliberation Task Force" on the 17th at the multipurpose room of the Paju City Citizens' Hall and is taking a commemorative photo. On the 18th, Paju City in Gyeonggi Province announced that on the 17th, it appointed the "Paju City Hall Public Deliberation Implementation Team" (hereinafter referred to as the Implementation Team) at the multipurpose room of the Paju Citizens' Hall and officially launched the public deliberation process.
Paju City is conducting public deliberation to create a city hall that embodies the future vision of Paju together with its citizens.
The Implementation Team, consisting of nine members including the Paju Public Deliberation Committee members and Paju citizens, manages and supports the entire public deliberation process to ensure it is transparent and fair.
The main roles include ▲ operating and managing the public deliberation forum where citizens gather to deliberate and discuss ▲ forming a representative citizen participation group to take part in the forum ▲ promoting and collecting public opinion ▲ submitting the results of the public deliberation to the Paju Public Deliberation Committee.
Kim Gwang-gu, chairman of the Paju Public Deliberation Committee, stated, “For producing acceptable and agreed-upon public deliberation results through citizen participation, communication, understanding, and empathy, the neutral and balanced role of the Implementation Team at each stage of the process is of utmost importance.”
Kim Min-seop, head of the Public Architecture Division, said, “We will spare no effort to provide sufficient information and knowledge to form voluntary and active public deliberation among citizens and to create an environment where citizens can freely discuss.”
Starting with the appointment of this Implementation Team, the public deliberation process centered on citizen participation will proceed, including opinion polls, recruitment of citizen participation groups, collection of citizen opinions, and various discussion forums.
