"Up to 66% Off Kitchenware in Super Deal"
Sales of cooking utensils and premium tableware are surging in response to the popularity of Netflix's cooking competition show 'Heukbaek Yorisai' (Black and White Chef). This is due to an increasing number of consumers wanting to experience the atmosphere of high-end restaurants at home.
Gmarket announced on the 20th that an analysis of kitchenware sales data from the 1st to the 16th of this month revealed that transaction amounts by item have surged up to three times compared to the same period last year. Among these, premium products are popular, with the average purchase amount per customer nearly doubling.
The item with the largest increase in transaction amount was cooking utensils. Specifically, sales of frying pan sets increased by 151%. This was followed by graters (233%), knives (167%), cauldrons (126%), pots (52%), steamers (42%), cutting boards (40%), and mixing bowls (22%). Measuring devices such as salinometers (32%) and kitchen scales (25%) were also popular.
Sales of plates and tableware also rose significantly. During the same period, plate sales increased by 156%, and sales of spoon and chopstick sets (246%) and forks and knives (80%) also grew. Wine accessories, which help create a fine dining atmosphere, saw a 95% increase in transaction amounts compared to last year.
There was also demand for high-priced premium kitchenware. The average purchase amount per customer nearly doubled compared to last year, supporting this trend. For example, the average purchase amount for forks and knives increased by 97%. Additionally, average purchase amounts for wine accessories (65%), knives and cutting tools (37%), cooking utensils (27%), frying pans (24%), pots (23%), and plates (18%) all rose simultaneously.

They have also prepared guaranteed delivery service products for customers who want fast shipping. Centered on the 'Star Delivery' products, which promise delivery on the specified date, customers can purchase frying pans, knives, aprons, and more with next-day delivery.
A Gmarket representative said, "This is an example of how trends that attract people's attention quickly translate into consumption in online malls.
